Jacob Modise

Mr Jacob Modise is the Executive Chairman of Batsomi Investment Holdings (Pty) Limited, a black economic empowerment group he founded in 1998, that has investments in the industrial, technology, defence, motor, hospitality, power and healthcare industries. Prior to this, he was the Chief Executive Officer of the Road Accident Fund for six years. This followed seven years at Johnnic Holdings Limited where he served initially as its Finance Director and later as the Chief Executive Officer. Before joining Johnnic, he headed the Corporate Finance Division at Eskom; was Financial Manager at Teljoy Limited; spent two years as Financial Planning Manager at Johannesburg Consolidated Investment Limited and three years at Deloitte & Touché.

Mr Modise has extensive commercial experience developed over more than two decades in both the private and public sectors. He has served on the boards of numerous listed, unlisted and state-owned companies where he occupied various leadership positions ranging from Executive Director, Non-Executive Director, Chairman of the Board, to Chairman of various Board Committees, including audit and remuneration committees.

Mr Modise’s academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of Witwatersrand; a Chartered Accountant professional qualification from the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Public Accountants and Auditors Board; a Masters of Business Administration from Wits Business School; Advanced Management Programme from Sanford: Global Utilities Institute; and Advanced Management Programmes from Harvard Business School.
